Dedicated to advancing inland fisheries science and sustainable aquaculture
Dr. Chayan Roy's passion for fisheries science began in the riverine landscapes of West Bengal. Growing up near the Hooghly River, he witnessed firsthand the vital role inland fisheries play in the lives of millions of people.
After completing his Ph.D. in Fisheries Science from the University of Calcutta, he embarked on a career dedicated to understanding and conserving India's freshwater fish biodiversity. Over the past 15+ years, his research has spanned fish taxonomy, aquaculture technology, hatchery management, and environmental conservation.
Today, Dr. Roy combines cutting-edge scientific research with practical on-ground consulting to help fish farmers, government agencies, and research institutions optimize their fisheries operations while maintaining ecological balance.
Guided by science, driven by purpose
To advance the science and practice of inland fisheries through innovative research, expert consulting, and community education. We strive to enhance fish production, ensure food security, and improve the livelihoods of fishing communities across India through sustainable aquaculture practices.
A future where India's inland fisheries are managed sustainably, where every fish farmer has access to modern scientific knowledge, and where our freshwater ecosystems thrive alongside productive aquaculture — feeding millions while preserving biodiversity for generations to come.
